My Analyzing Argument: Na'vi Linguist speaks at CSUF

Edwards. F. (2011, April 19). Na'vi Linguist speaks at CSUF. The Daily Titan. Retrieved on April 23, 2011 from http://www.dailytitan.com/2011/04/19/navi-linguist-speaks-at-csuf/

The article talks about the Paul Frommer who is creator of Na’vi language in the Avatar movie. One of arguments is “Na’vi attracted a lot of interest,” Frommer said. It is a claim of value which appeals to trust and values. Avatar movie is a very interesting movie and Na’vi language is used in this movie. The author argues that the creating of a new language started with phonetics and phonology. This argument is a claim of definition and appeals to the trust and value because Frommer is a linguist and he gives us many real reasons and other linguists also agree with this argument. The argument is valid and has very strong supporting ideas.

"There are many misconceptions about language. It’s the most human thing that we do. It’s what defines us. No other living creature communicates like humans. Every language has rules and the study of linguistics teaches that every group has a legitimate way of communicating. There’s a misconception that any non-English language is inferior. The study of linguistics helps you appreciate different languages and the variety of human communication. Linguistics helps people to understand themselves better because language “pervades every aspect of existence”. Frommer said.
